Blackberry Picking....

We spent Monday morning picking blackberries at RC Dairy and Farmstead in Collinsville, TX.  We had a wonderful time.  Their farm is always so neat and tidy it was just a pleasure to go and walk around for an hour or two.

We picked a gallon box of berries.  They were all so big and juicy.  That afternoon we canned 10 half pints of blackberry jam.  We also picked another 4lbs of plums from our tree and canned another 9 half pints of plum butter.

Our total jam/butter to date is 36 half pints.  That should last a while.  We probably will not be preserving more jam until the pears are done around July.

  1. Mmmm! Blackberry jam sounds delicious! It will take awhile yet befor blackberries are ripe here in our area but I'm already looking forward to making yummy things with them, including jam and my husbands favorite blackberry pudding.

    Blessings~
